Traditional Wooden Shutters
Wooden Shutters Mill hand crafts custom made wood shutters. We begin with the best materials available -- high grade cedars, mahoganies and select domestic hard woods. Our wooden shutters are available in many historical and authentic designs, and can be purchased with a wide range of exterior shutter options including hardware, radius tops, priming and painting.
Although each wooden shutter is hand made by experienced and dedicated craftsmen, our pricing is extremely competitive because of the automation in our mill, and the specialized tooling and fixtures that we have to faithfully recreate traditional designs, with the maximum efficiency. True rail and stile construction, with tenon joinery, floating panels and kiln dried hardwoods all distinguish our products from competitors wooden shutters. We do not take short cuts with the milling, assembly or finishing of our products.
Wooden Shutters that Last
Western Red Cedar and Spanish Cedar have traditionally been the materials that give the longest life to true wooden shutters. The Wooden Shutters Mill purchases the highest grades of many hardwood species, and maintains them at proper temperature and moisture content prior to machining. Because we buy our lumber in the rough, and handle final sawing, resawing and milling, we can hand select and match the correct grades for each wooden shutter. Spanish Cedar is native to and ideally suited for tropical and Carribean exterior shutter installations, while Western Red Cedar is a lower cost alternative more suited to less extreme conditions. In either case, the fact that we start with top grades, and use control the entire manufacturing process assures that our exterior Wooden Shutters are of the highest quality.
